No reggae festival would be complete without paying homage to the man who brought reggae across the globe.
Rub A Dublin reggae festival welcomes to the live stage 'Songs Of Freedom', the Dublin based collective, to pay tribute to Bob Marley & The Wailers.

The Band delighted fans of the legendary music, playing the 'Trenchtown Yard' Stage at Electric Picnic earlier this year. The musicians who form 'Songs Of Freedom' have been playing Bob's music for two decades and their obvious love & respect for the music of Bob Marley & The Wailers comes across in every performance and their choice of songs.

'A Song's Of Freedom show is one that celebrates this extraordinary mans life'

Bob Marley passed away on May 11th 1981, three decades after his untimely death at 36 years of age his music still influences millions of people across the globe.

His greatest-hits album 'LEGEND' has sold more than 25 million copies worldwide and has remained in the charts since it's release in 1984.

In 2011 a documentary telling his life story - 'MARLEY' was given an international cinema release to much acclaim and awards, telling the extraordinary story of the 'third worlds' first & only global superstar.

If he was only known for his classic songs like ' NO WOMAN, NO CRY', 'REDEMPTION SONG' and 'ONE LOVE' he would still be hailed as one of the greatest  artists of the 20th Century, but Bob Marley was more than a songwriter, singer & musician. Born to poverty in Jamaica, his father was white and his mother black, he overcame all obstacles to fight his way to the top and throughout his short life he advocated social change with freedom for all mankind, regardless of race or economic status. This message reached across the world and is still as relevant today as it was when Marley was alive.

From the early days with Peter Tosh & Bunny Wailer in The Wailing Wailers calling on us to SIMMER DOWN and then to GET UP STAND UP, to his break through as international superstar asking us - COULD YOU BE LOVED?, Bob's music has moved people in every sense of the word, in every corner of the world ever since.
